“He determines the number of the stars; he gives to all of them their names. Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure.“ – Psalm 147:4-5 (ESV)
God is Omniscient.
Definition: Omniscience means to know all things. The Bible affirms that God alone is all knowing. This knowledge includes facts, but it also includes God’s intimate knowledge of people.
God’s omniscience should be a great comfort to believers. For example, Romans 8:28, “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose,” could not be true if God was not omniscient.
God’s knowledge of the inner life of each person is talked about in Psalm 139. How amazing it is that God knows everything about us, when are where we go, our actions, and also our thoughts not no one else can know but God, before we speak God already knows what we are going to say! However this knowledge should make the unrighteous fearful, because you cannot hide your sin from God (Ps 90:8; Prov 15:3). For this reason God alone is right to judge mankind for their sin, he alone knows each human and their secrets (Rom 2:16).
Is the knowledge that God knows all things a comfort to you? Or does it make you fearful?
For me it does both. It is a comfort to know God knows all things, nothing is a surprise for him. When I come to a trial or difficult situation, it is not a surprise for God. But on the other hand it is a reminder to fear God and to be humble and walk in righteousness, even my thoughts are seen by him.
